Are You Fat and Furious?

Have you ever put yourself on a low-calorie, high-exercise diet and still found yourself kicking your scale in frustration? According to a new book, for tens of millions of Americans, you're not alone. Many doctors, personal trainers and the diet industry are failing to inform, diagnose and treat your body for a metabolic disorder that could be the source of your weight control frustration.

"You may think you can lose weight if you starve yourself and workout all the time, but you won't lose weight until you address your body's chemistry and treat it for metabolic disorders, hormone imbalances, insulin imbalances or a hypothyroid condition," says the author of a new book on dieting and health.

In Fat and Furious: Overcome Your Body's Resistance To Weight Loss Now!, career yo-yo dieter and holistic health educator Loree Taylor Jordan, CCH, ID, shows us how your body chemistry may work against -- instead of for -- you in your pursuit of weight control. She says: "Most people do not fully take into account the numerous factors that inhibit an effective weight control program.

"Fat and Furious stresses the following in a comprehensive manner:-Get your body chemistry tested to learn what diet is right for you.-No one diet fits all. Obesity is not necessarily about overeating. It's not a crime; it's a medical issue. A diet should be customized for the individual.-Take into account the emotional issues and stress buttons that adversely trigger bad eating habits and keep health and happiness linked to food.-Society must stop playing the blame and shame game with obese people.

Search your belief system when it comes to food, alter lifestyle habits, and most of all, love yourself no matter what.

We know obesity is the No. 1 health problem in America today. More people now than ever in the history of this country are overweight. According to Jordan it may not be the fault of tens of millions of people, and as a result, society should lighten up in its attack on overweight people who are very much fed up with being fat and even more angered over how people treat them.

She warns us that crash dieting can result in bankrupting your body's ability to lose weight. This metabolic mayhem has very real consequences, making weight loss almost impossible without first treating the condition. Carbohydrate sensitivity and insulin resistance can especially play a major role here as well.

Jordan shares medical research, interviews with doctors, witty and uplifting personal stories from her battles with the bulge, and strongly advocates for the proper diagnosis and treatment of physical disorders that impact weight loss. She also discusses nature's pharmacy, explaining some of the commonly used herbs, supplements, and herbal combinations for losing fat, restoring glandular health, detoxifying your body, removing parasites, and regenerating your body.

Fat and Furious is not your typical diet book. It doesn't tout rigid exercise routines, do- and don't-eat-food lists, or offer some kind of quick-fix gimmick for dropping unwanted pounds. "Some people have a better chance of winning the lottery than losing ten pounds without seeking medical help," says Jordan. "It's simply not the case of eat less, exercise more. There are real medical issues here. It won't matter what diet you're on unless you heal the body."

Jordan is a woman who has triumphed over adversity, and she has certainly had her fair share, taking her weight on a roller coaster ride as a result. Growing up she saw her parents go through a divorce and then her mom died of breast cancer, and recently her dad of colon cancer. She went through her own divorce, had her house wrecked in an earthquake, and had her holistic health business burned to the ground by an arsonist. Her body's been through it all, too: sugar/carbohydrate addiction, Syndrome X, hormonal imbalance, Epstein Barr virus, parasites, diet pills, and crash diets.

To cope emotionally, she has undertaken radical dieting measures since the age of 12, even though she didn't have a weight problem at the time, including one 30-day stretch when she only drank water. She desperately tried every known diet to lose weight – even injecting the urine of pregnant women into her butt in the belief it would help her. She now knows the science behind successful weight control and wants to teach people to understand how the body works.

She literally shares herself like an open book and we benefit from her numerous experiences to learn the truth about dieting. Her lively writing is punctuated with hilarious wit and uplifting personal stories that highlight a positive message. With tremendous heart, candor and vulnerability, Jordan empowers her readers with strategies to recover their self-esteem no matter what the scale says. She hopes to transform your relationship with food. "You need to get your body, mind, and spirit in harmony to reach your goal of a healthier you," says Jordan.

Jordan addresses the shame, frustration and humiliation of those caught in the trap of misdiagnosis by mainstream doctors. The effects are devastating. Fat and Furious gives hope to those at their wit's end with frustration, breaking through the barrier of ignorance prevalent in the medical community.

She concludes: "Dieting is not about willpower; it's metabolism. It's not motivations; it's biochemistry. It's not your attitudes; it's your hormones."
