Should You Poop on Christmas? Colonic Queen Urges A Purge For The New Year Do you find yourself inevitably overeating during the holiday season? Thanksgiving Day traditionally kicks off about five weeks of parties, holidays and celebrations, which means plenty of eating and drinking. This might be a good time to think about cleansing your body. "One of the best ways to purify, cleanse, and detoxify the body is to undergo a colonic," says colon hydro-therapist Loree Taylor Jordan, CCH, I.D. Colon hydro-therapy, according to the woman known as "the Colonic Queen," is clean and relaxing. It's an ancient, time-honored, gentle water cleansing of the colon, by way of a sterile, disposable rectal tube or speculum. Water and fecal matter are flushed out. "Instead of thinking how you'll stuff yourself like a turkey," says Jordan, "give some thought of how you'll cleanse your system and reap the health benefits of a clean colon." Colon hydro-therapy has become a valuable tool to physicians in treating disease. Jordan, who has successfully cleansed hundreds of clients over the past 15 years, believes it's important to have a colonic done in order to live a long and vital healthy life. So how does it work? A soothing flow of filtered, temperature-controlled water gently circulates throughout the colon, coaxing your body to release the digested toxins and waste that may have built up inside over the years. Jordan, the author of Fat and the Furious and Detoxify For Life, suggests a two-week period of cleansing. You should consume lots of: Purified water and herbal teas (at least a gallon a day) Fresh fruit Vegetable juice Other helpful hints and tips include: Eat 5-6 small meals per day instead of 3 large ones Stick with chicken and fish Keep starchy pastas and breads to a minimum, or better yet, eliminate them altogether Eat lightly, such as soups and salads Foods to eliminate and avoid while cleansing include: Fried foods, fast foods, and junks foods Sodas, caffeinated drinks, and coffee Sugar in all forms, including alcohol Real meats, pork, fatty meats Dairy products that are mucous forming, such as milk, cheese, and butter "I certainly think people should enjoy the holidays and eat responsibly," says Jordan, "but if we want to start the coming year off right we should give some serious thought to cleansing our bodies." She notes that our intestines are over loaded with waste material. Many of the health problems we live with are problems we can control by getting rid of stagnating and fermenting foods that should have been removed as waste from our body but instead are collecting inside. "Help your waist by eliminating waste," concludes Jordan. |
